Vanillic Acid CAS 121-34-6
Vanillic acid is white acicular crystal, odorless, can sublimate, does not decompose. Melting point 210℃. Soluble in ethanol, soluble in ether, slightly soluble in water. It does not show color when acted with ferric chloride. Oxalic acid is one of the effective components of Coptis chinensis. The structure of coptis officinalis contains vanillic acid, ferulic acid and cinnamyl group respectively, which are vanillic acid, ferulic acid and cinnamic acid after hydrolysis. Vanillic acid is one of the antibacterial components of Coptis officinalis. The determination of vanillic acid content can be used as an index to measure the quality of Coptis officinalis.
