Silicon Dioxide CAS 7631-86-9
Silicon dioxide is a good rubber reinforcing agent, which can greatly improve the tensile strength and wear resistance of vulcanized rubber, reduce the amount of rubber used, reduce costs, and have strong affinity, making it have a greater dispersion ability in raw rubber. The physical properties formed by the particles of silica and rubber particles are better than those of carbon black in enhancing the mechanical strength and tear strength of vulcanized rubber.

Silicon dioxide is used in industries such as tires, semi transparent and high transparent rubber products, as well as rubber soles and cables. Mainly used in rubber products such as conveyor belts and rubber rollers.
Silica (SiO2) (RI: 1.48) is mined from deposits of diatomaceous soft chalk-like rock (keiselghur). This is an important group of extender pigments, which is used in a variety of particle sizes. They are used as a flatting agent to reduce gloss of clear coatings and to impart shear thinning flow properties to coatings. They are relatively expensive.
