Potassium Bromide CAS 7758-02-3
Potassium bromide is a white, slightly deliquable crystal or powder. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol. In dilute solution, potassium bromide is sweet, slightly strong, bitter, and salty when extremely strong (mainly because of the presence of potassium ions; Sodium bromide tastes salty at any concentration). Concentrated potassium bromide solutions strongly irritate the gastric mucosa, causing nausea and vomiting (which is also the nature of any soluble potassium salt). It can be used as a nerve tranquilizer.
