P-Anisaldehyde is soluble in 2 volumes of 60% ethanol and is miscible with oil-based flavorings, with an acid value<6.0. It has a clear aroma of anise, with a floral fragrance similar to hawthorn flowers and some bean fragrance similar to vanilla beans. There are also some medicinal herbs, fragrant and sweet. The aroma is strong and long-lasting.

P-Anisaldehyde is used in heavy woody essence such as sandalwood. P-Anisaldehyde is also used in soap essence. In food, it is used for its sweetness and fragrance, and in the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to manufacture antimicrobial drugs such as amoxicillin, which is an intermediate for antihistamines.
