Whether you have three or nine steps, anyone can do one thing to improve the skin, that is to apply the product in the right order. No matter what your skin problem is, you need to start from the base of cleaning and toning, then use concentrated active ingredients, and complete it by sealing in water. Of course, there is SPF during the day. The following are the steps of a good skin care program:
1. Wash your face
In the morning and evening, rinse your face and wipe a small amount of gentle facial cleanser between clean palms. Massage the entire face with gentle pressure. Rinse hands, massage face with water and rinse face until detergent and dirt are removed. Pat your face dry with a soft towel. If you make up, you may need to clean it twice in the evening. First, remove makeup with makeup remover or micellar water. Try to put the special eye makeup remover on the eyes for a few minutes to make the cosmetics fall off more easily and avoid rubbing the eyes. Then gently clean the whole face.
2. Apply toner
If you use toner, please use it after cleansing. Pour a few drops of toner into your palm or cotton pad, and gently smear it on your face. If your toner has the function of exfoliating, it means that it uses ingredients such as glycolic acid to remove dead skin cells, which is best used only at night. Moisturizing formula can be used twice a day. Do not use exfoliating toner and retinoids or other exfoliating products at the same time.
3. Apply essence
Morning is a good time to use antioxidant containing essence, just like whitening vitamin C essence. Because they can protect your skin from the free radicals you encounter all day long. Night is a good time to use moisturizing essence containing hyaluronic acid, which can prevent the skin from drying at night, especially if you use anti-aging or acne treatment, which may irritate and dry the skin. Serum may also contain exfoliating agents such as α- Hydroxy acid (AHA) or lactic acid. Whatever you use, always remember: water-based essence should be used under the moisturizing cream, and oily essence should be used after the moisturizing cream.
4. Apply eye cream
You can apply a regular moisturizer on the area under your eyes, but if you decide to use a special eye cream, you usually need to apply it under the moisturizer because the eye cream is often thinner than the facial moisturizer. Try using eye cream with a metal ball applicator and store it in the refrigerator to counteract the morning swelling. Use of moisturizing eye cream at night will cause fluid retention, making the eyes look puffy in the morning.
5. Use spot treatment
It is a good idea to use acne spot treatment at night when your body is in repair mode. Beware of layering anti acne ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid with retinol, which may cause irritation. Instead, make sure you do your best to keep your skin calm and hydrated.
6. Moisturizing
Moisturizing cream can not only moisturize the skin, but also lock all other product layers you apply. Look for a light toner suitable for the morning, preferably SPF 30 or higher. At night, you can use a thicker night cream. People with dry skin may want to use cream sooner or later.
7. Use retinoids
Retinoids (vitamin A derivatives, including retinol) can reduce dark spots, pimples and fine lines by increasing skin cell turnover, but they may also be irritating, especially for sensitive skin. If you use retinoids, they will decompose in the sun, so they should only be used at night. They also make your skin particularly sensitive to sunlight, so sunscreen is a must.
8. Apply facial care oil
If you use facial oil, make sure to use it after other skin care products, because no other products can penetrate into the oil.
9. Apply sunscreen
This may be the last step, but almost any dermatologist will tell you that sun protection is the most important part of any skin care plan. Protecting your skin from UV rays can prevent skin cancer and signs of aging. If your moisturizer does not contain SPF, you still need to apply sunscreen. For chemical sunscreen, wait 20 minutes before going out to make the sunscreen effective. Look for broad-spectrum SPF, which means your sunscreen can prevent UVA and UVB radiation.
