DBU can be used as a catalyst for the production of polyaminomethanol ethyl ester and other chemical products, such as the reaction of ammonia and dichloroethane to produce piperazine in its presence. It is an excellent dehydrating agent, epoxy resin hardener, rust inhibitor, and can be formulated as advanced corrosion inhibitor. Widely used in the production of cephalosporin semi synthetic antibiotics.
