Benzyldimethylstearylammonium Chloride CAS 122-19-0
Octadecyldimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride is a pale yellow liquid, a quaternary ammonium salt composed of a long-chain octadecyl group (C₁₈H₃₇), two methyl groups (CH₃), a benzyl group (C₆H₅CH₂) and chloride ions (Cl⁻).

1. Textile industry
Softener: adsorbs on the fiber surface to form a directional arrangement, reducing friction between fibers (especially improving the stiffness of polyester and acrylic fibers).
Antistatic agent: neutralizes the surface charge of the fiber to prevent static adsorption during spinning/weaving (better when combined with glycerides).
Technical points:
The dosage is usually 0.5%-2% of the fabric weight, and the applicable pH range is (4-9).
It may affect the color fastness and needs to be used in post-dyeing treatment;
2. Oilfield chemicals
Application scenarios:
Drilling fluid sterilization: inhibits the reproduction of anaerobic bacteria and prevents the generation of H₂S gas (combined with glutaraldehyde to enhance the effect).
Corrosion inhibitor: forms a hydrophobic film on the metal surface to block water/oxygen contact (the corrosion inhibition efficiency for carbon steel can reach more than 70%).
Precautions:
It needs to be compounded with corrosion inhibitors (such as imidazolines) to cope with high temperature and high salt environments.
3. Other special applications
Papermaking industry: as a wet strength agent to improve the softness of paper (used in conjunction with polyamide epoxy resin).
Coating antiseptic: prevent water-based coatings from mildewing (addition amount 0.05-0.1%).
Agriculture: disinfection of greenhouse tools, seed coating and sterilization.
